Study shows average annual healthcare cost of hepatitis C
is over $12,000.
A recent study1
found that a 25% annual increase in healthcare costs for HCV-infected patients
is driven by Rx drug outlays. In addition to a cost increase, Rx drugs may also
play a role in psychiatric diagnoses in these patients, as they are twice as
likely to develop a mood disorder.
HCV has also been linked to a
33% increase in musculoskeletal conditions as well as a 50% increase in the
incidence of neoplastic disease.
